Dagbon Traditional Council Holds Prayers For Late Yaa-Naa.

The Dagbon Traditional Council has formally declared that the third-day prayer ceremony for the late Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Ndan Yaa-Naa Mahama Abukari II, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the historic Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, a venue of immense cultural and traditional significance.

 

According to the Council’s official statement, the prayer ceremony is set to commence at 10:00 a.m. sharp, and the general public is cordially invited to join the Royal Family and the people of Dagbon in offering solemn prayers for the eternal repose of the late King’s soul, seeking divine mercy and tranquility for his departed spirit.

 

This announcement comes on the heels of the burial of Yaa-Naa Abukari II, which took place in the early hours of Monday, July 13, within the sacred and revered precincts of the Gbewaa Palace, in strict adherence to the timeless traditions of Islamic custom and Dagbon heritage.
