A total of 1,283 residents from the Ahafo Region have successfully received their passports within the span of six months since the opening of the Goaso Passport Application Centre, as confirmed by officials at the facility.
The head of the centre, Christiana Deladem Afagbedzi, disclosed that by June 10, 2026, the centre had received a total of 1,485 passport applications since its official launch on December 31, 2025.
In an interview with Adom News in Goaso, she explained that out of all the applications received, 1,283 have been fully processed and handed over to the applicants.
She also mentioned that there are 126 additional applications currently in the processing stage and are expected to be completed and issued to the applicants once the required steps have been finalized.
Furthermore, she revealed that 76 applications are still pending and have not yet started being processed. Mrs. Afagbedzi explained that the centre is experiencing a lower volume of applications than expected, and she attributed this to challenges in securing the necessary documents from potential applicants.
She pointed out that many people are struggling to complete the application process because they face difficulties in obtaining the required supporting documents.
Despite this, she remains hopeful that the ongoing efforts to educate the public and raise awareness about the required documentation and application procedures will help alleviate the issue over time.
She added that as more residents become aware of the specific requirements and the process involved in applying for a passport, the number of successful applications is anticipated to grow.
The Goaso Passport Application Centre was specifically set up to improve the accessibility of passport services for people living in the Ahafo Region, making it easier for them to obtain travel documents without having to travel long distances to other parts of the country.
