Asamoah Gyan Calls For Unity And Support For Black Stars Ahead Of 2026 FIFA World Cup Matches.

Former captain of the Ghana national team, Asamoah Gyan, has urged all Ghanaians to come together and support the national side as they get ready to begin their journey towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with their first match against Panama.

In a heartfelt message titled “My People,” the legendary Ghanaian footballer referred to the Black Stars as the pride of the nation and described them as the only true product that Ghana can be known for.
He extended his congratulations to the 26 players who have been selected for the tournament and expressed firm confidence in their ability to represent the country with distinction on the world‘s biggest football stage.

Gyan called on Ghanaians everywhere, both in Ghana and in the diaspora, to unite in support of the national team. Black Stars no matter the outcome of the matches, showing unwavering support for the team throughout the tournament.

He also recognized the contributions of various stakeholders in Ghana’s World Cup preparations, including President John Mahama, Sports Minister Kofi Adams, the Ghana Football Association under the leadership of Kurt Okraku, the media, and the passionate supporters. He praised the collective efforts of all these groups in getting the team ready for the tournament.

According to Gyan’s message, the main emphasis should be on unity and pride.
He urged the players to give their best on the pitch and to make the country proud whenever they step onto the field in Toronto.

Ghana’s World Cup campaign kicks off on Wednesday, June 17, with a crucial match against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto.
This game is expected to receive a lot of attention, as the Black Stars aim to make a strong start in their Group L, which also includes England and Croatia.

The team has already arrived in Canada and is set to have a mandatory training session before the encounter with Panama.
Following the game against Panama, Ghana will face England at Gillette Stadium on June 23, and then conclude their groupstage matches against Croatia on June 27.The hope is that they will be able to advance to the knockout stages for the first time since 2010.
