A curfew has been put in place for the communities living in the Nkwanta South Municipality. This means that people in these areas are required to stay indoors during specific times of the day, usually at night, as a security measure. The decision to impose this curfew is likely due to concerns about safety and order in the region.

Local authorities have announced the curfew to help maintain peace and prevent any potential disturbances. Residents are expected to comply with the rule and avoid being outside during the restricted hours. The curfew is part of efforts to ensure the safety of the people and to manage any ongoing situations that may be affecting the area.

The Minister responsible for the Interior has taken action based on the guidance provided by the National Security Council, using an Executive Instrument to impose a curfew on certain communities located in the Nkwanta South Municipality, which is part of the Oti Region.

This curfew will come into effect starting on Friday, June 19, 2026, and will be in place every day from 5:00 p.m.
to 6:00 a.m. The communities that are affected by this curfew include Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye, and Nkwanta.

In order to support the efforts aimed at restoring peace and security, the government has encouraged chiefs, elders, community leaders, youth organizations, and local residents in these areas to stay calm and work together with authorities.

Additionally, the authorities have called on the residents to address any issues or concerns in a peaceful and lawful manner, to help ensure continued stability and the longterm peace of the municipality.
