This is a historic moment as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda will be hosting the Africa Cup of Nations for the very first time in their history. The final match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations KE-TZ-UG 27 will take place on 17 July 2027. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is still in talks with the local organizing committees and government representatives of the three host nations to finalize the details of the tournament. This includes determining which country will host the final draw in March 2027, the opening match on 19 June, and the closing match on 17 July.
With just 365 days left until the tournament begins, excitement is growing across the entire continent.
Football fans are preparing for the qualifying campaign that will determine which 24 teams will have the chance to compete for Africa’s most prestigious football trophy.
The theme of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations KE-TZ-UG 27 is “PAMOJA,” which means “Together” in Swahili.
This theme highlights CAF’s vision of unity, teamwork, and shared growth through the power of football.
The journey to the finals has already started after the qualifiers draw took place in Cairo in May. In this draw, 48 nations were assigned to different paths to reach the final stages of the tournament. Some of Africa’s strongest football teams, including Morocco, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, are set to begin their quest for qualification in September 2026.
The qualification phase will take place across three FIFA international windows:
– Matchdays 1 & 2: 21 September to 6 October 2026
– Matchdays 3 & 4: 9 to 17 November 2026
– Matchdays 5 & 6: 22 to 30 March 2027
Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, the host nations, have already secured automatic qualification, but they will still take part in the qualifiers. From each of their groups, only one additional team will make it through to the final stage.
