Atta Akyea Has Asked For Additional Time To File His Written Addresses On Samreboi Case.

In the Samreboi case, Atta Akyea has asked for additional time to submit his written statements or addresses. This request indicates that he needs more time to prepare and present his arguments in writing, which is an important part of the legal process. The court will likely consider this request and decide whether to grant the extension based on the circumstances and the rules of procedure in place.

Lead counsel for the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, who is widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has made a request to the Accra High Court for more time to submit his written statement in the ongoing Samreboi illegal mining case. After the court proceedings, the lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, explained to the media that he recently took over the criminal side of the case from another lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, and feels the need for additional time to properly prepare the legal documents required for the case.

He said, “I have taken over the criminal case that lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi was handling.
That’s what I’ve done. But the rest of the cases are not with me.” According to Mr.Atta Akyea, the request for an extension is intended to give the defense enough time to properly present their arguments to the court before any decision is made. He emphasized that a fair trial depends on all parties having enough time to prepare their legal submissions.

“I will plead with the court for that because if you want to have a fair trial, and if you want our input to be part of the judge’s thinking, I believe they should allow time so that we will be able to do what is necessary,” he said.

The senior lawyer also pointed out that the written address plays a vital role in the legal process.
It allows the defense to clearly explain their arguments to the court before a final judgment is reached. His request is expected to be reviewed by the court as the case related to illegal mining in Samreboi continues.
