In a remarkable display of solidarity with the government’s sanitation initiative, film personalities who took part in the second day of the National General Clean-Up Exercise have garnered widespread acclaim for their unwavering commitment to the cause.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, a plethora of actors, filmmakers, and stakeholders from the creative industry converged with the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, to undertake a thorough cleaning of various sectors within the Central Business District, as part of a concerted effort to revitalize communities that have been severely impacted by the recent floods.

This exercise, which was meticulously organized in collaboration with the National Film Authority (NFA) and the prestigious Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA), successfully brought together a diverse array of the country’s most revered film personalities, who collectively swept streets, meticulously collected refuse, and cleared drains in the vicinity of the Agbogbloshie Market.
Notable participants included the Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Kafui Danku-Pitcher, the Chief Executive Officer of REFFA, Selassie Ibrahim, the veteran actor Adjetey Anang, as well as esteemed actresses Roselyn Ngissah and Irene Opare, affectionately known as Clean Mama, alongside a multitude of other stakeholders from the creative industry.

Their active involvement in the clean-up exercise drew effusive praise from the Mayor, who lauded the participation of the creative industry as a substantial boon to the national sanitation campaign, emphasizing the profound influence that public figures wield in shaping public attitudes towards environmental cleanliness.
He astutely observed that the willingness of these public figures to lead by example would serve as a potent catalyst, inspiring a greater number of Ghanaians to embrace the imperative of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, thereby fostering a culture of sustainability and civic responsibility.
