NAM1’s Witness Statement Is In – Cross-Examination Kicks Off July 17 In The MenzGold Case.

In a pivotal development, the Accra High Court has scheduled the continuation of Nana Appiah Mensah’s, also known as NAM1, cross-examination for Friday, July 17, 2026, at which point he will resume his testimony in the highly publicized MenzGold case. This significant progression comes on the heels of the court’s completion of the Case Management Conference (CMC), effectively clearing the path for the proceedings to move forward.

As revealed by Fred Forson, the Head of the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of MenzGold (CACM), NAM1 has finally submitted his witness statement, thereby complying with a directive initially issued by the court in 2024. Although the court’s order was given two years prior, the document was only formally presented on Monday, July 13, 2026. Forson elucidated, “The court’s directive for NAM1 to file his witness statement was given in 2024, and he has now complied with this order, thus bringing the CMC to a close.”

Furthermore, the court has established a tentative timeline that extends into late July for the continuation of the trial, with the aim of driving the case towards a conclusive outcome. According to Forson, “Our hope is that by this Friday, we will have completed the cross-examination, thereby paving the way for the case to reach its finality.” NAM1 is currently standing trial on multiple charges, including defrauding by false pretence, operating a gold dealership business without the requisite licence, and money laundering. Having pleaded not guilty to all the charges, he remains on bail as the trial progresses.

The ongoing case is an offshoot of the protracted prosecution that ensued in the aftermath of the collapse of MenzGold Ghana Limited, an event that left thousands of customers clamoring for refunds of their investments, which had become locked up. The trial, which is slated to resume on Friday, July 17, 2026, will see NAM1 return to the witness box for further cross-examination, marking a significant milestone in the quest for justice and resolution for the affected parties. As the case unfolds, it is expected to provide a sense of closure and vindication for the countless individuals whose lives were impacted by the demise of MenzGold.
