Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has uncovered that Ghana will launch its first local music streaming platform in November.
Tending to stakeholders in the creative arts sector, Dr Bawumia underscored the need for a local answer for assist Ghanaian musicians with receiving better financial benefits from their work.
“Spotify and different platforms are remotely owned, so it’s not shocking that the payments to our musician are very little,” he said, focusing on the current platforms don’t give significant return for artist in Ghana.
“The issue for us has been to guarantee we have a local streaming platforms where we can put every one of the lists from a to z that we can track down in Ghana.”
Dr. Bawumia featured the collaboration effort between MUSIGA, the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), music producer, and the private sector to make this platform a reality.
He explained that the platforms is intended to assist with revenue, track royalties, and amplify opportunities for content creators.
“I’m extremely glad to tell you that the work has been completed,” Dr. Bawumia shared.
“We are prepared to send off the primary nearby streaming stage for Ghanaian artists and film producers one month from now, in November.”
This new platforms is expected to give a more fair income model for Ghanaian creatives, allowing them to more readily track and gather eminences while setting out open doors for sustainable growth in the industry.
