3Sports writer Bill Eshun was awarded Disability Journalist of The Year at the 28th edition of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards held at the Accra International Conference Center on Saturday night.
His acclaimed story, “The Jumping Phoenix,” exhibited the motivating excursion of a crippled high jumper from Akumfi Atwa in the Central Region, who is endeavoring to turn into a Paralympian.

Prior in 2024, the story got international recognition from AIPS, putting Eshun third in Africa and fifth on the world among youthful journalists.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony, which was held under the theme: “75 Years of Excellence in Journalism The Role of the Media in Democratic Governance and Elections.”
