Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, has stood up against the prohibition on the Baba Yara Stadium, which will drive the Black Stars to play their forthcoming home matches abroad.
The arena, Ghana’s just CAF-endorsed scene for global games, has been considered ill suited for use because of the unfortunate state of its pitch, bringing about the deficiency of its permit.
Accordingly, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is currently considering holding the matchday three apparatus of the 2025 Africa Cup of Countries (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan in Nigeria one month from now.
Appiah, who broadly captained Ghana during their most memorable World Cup appearance in 2006, communicated his failure on Twitter, portraying what is happening as a “public shame” would it be a good idea for us we play our home games away.
“Playing a qualifier outside Ghana, besides in a competition, is a public shame. We should focus on facilitating our own games and safeguard our football pride,” he posted on X (previously Twitter).

In the mean time, the Ministry of Sports has trained the GFA to demand reviews of both the Accra Sports Stadium and the University of Ghana Stadium by CAF authorities.
The Black Stars are booked to faced Sudan in the return leg on October 15 at the Al-Merrikh Stadium.
