The Stone Phil’s season opener includes an otherworldly mourn by Renaissance writer John Dowland. The program incorporates the astounding ability of 16-year-old violin player Amaryn Olmeda, who originally caught global consideration by winning the Sphinx Rivalry at 13. Olmeda, having performed with renowned ensembles including the Philadelphia and Cleveland Ensembles and the Houston and Seattle Orchestras, will play out a foundation of the Heartfelt violin collection, a piece not heard in Rock for anywhere close to twenty years.
The show finishes up with Mendelssohn’s Reconstruction Ensemble, a work of loftiness that unmistakably winds around Luther’s psalm “A Strong Fortification is Our God” into its embroidery, reflecting both verifiable veneration and melodic splendor.
